Joanna Hakimi, LMFT
She/Her/Hers
For the past 20 years, Joanna has been helping people make sense of their inner world and their relationships—without jargon, judgment, or the expectation that they “should have figured this out by now.” She earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and trained at the Bette D. Harris Family Clinic, where she worked with individuals, couples, and families navigating everything from everyday stress to major life transitions. Before that, she studied Speech Communications at the University of Georgia, which taught her early on that how we speak—and how we’re heard—shapes everything.
Joanna also completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training, which doesn’t mean she will make you do a sun salutation in session, but it does mean she brings grounded, practical mindfulness tools into the work when they’re helpful.
Her style is supportive, straightforward, and collaborative. She creates a space where you can say the honest thing—not the polished version—and explore what’s actually getting in the way of the changes you want. Together, you both will look at why some past attempts at “fixing” things didn’t stick, and build new strategies that actually fit who you are now.
Joanna believes therapy works best when you set goals together, stay curious, and give yourselves permission to grow at a realistic pace. Change isn’t instant, but with clarity and insight, it becomes sustainable—one thoughtful step at a time. Her goal is to help you understand your patterns, trust your voice, and make choices that feel aligned, intentional, and freeing.
Joanna accepts only self-pay clients and can provide Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.
