Mary Cooley is the founder and owner of Mindful Soltuions, LLC. She completed her graduate training at Northwestern University, where she received a Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to graduate school, Mary received her Bachelor's degree from Boston College and then worked in the court system as a victim advocate for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other felonies. During her graduate training, Mary saw individuals, couples and families in the Bette D. Harris Family Clinic at The Family Institute and she also participated in a community-based therapy program at Evanston Township High School. 

Following graduate school, Mary worked for a community mental health agency in Chicago performing emergency psychiatric assessments and home-based treatment for children and adolescents. She then returned to Northwestern University to complete a postgraduate clinical fellowship in marriage and family therapy at The Family Institute. As a fellow, she had the opportunity to supervise clinical work in the Northwestern University graduate programs, and she began lecturing on topics related to her specialty areas. Mary has been a valued guest lecturer at Northwestern, teaching topics which include working with adolescent clients, diagnosing and treating mental health disorders, assessing mental health crises, working with divorcing families, and collaborating with the legal system. Mary is in the process of becoming an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and is supervising Therapists-in-Training at The Family Institute at Northwestern University.


Mary's clinical specialties include relationship dynamics, communication, attachment, depression, anxiety, boundaries, life transitions, separation and divorce, infidelity, intimacy, addictions and compulsive behavior, parenting, school and work-related stress, athletic performance enhancement, self-esteem, pregnancy and transitions to parenthood, and general life-coaching. Mary has a special interest in working with adolescents and young adults.


Mary sees individual children, adolescents and adults as well as couples and families. She has a gentle, collaborative style, and she uses warmth and compassion when challenging clients to explore options for change and growth.


Mary received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Boston College.


Mary accepts only self-pay clients and can provide Superbills for out-of-network reimbursement
