Halle Aten, Ph.D.

She/Her/Hers

Halle is a full-time Licensed Clinical Psychologist at Mindful Solutions, LLC. Halle earned her Ph.D. from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) in 2007, after completing a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), in 2001, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychological Services at Northwestern University in 1997.

Halle was the founder of the Aten Group, a group practice in Los Angeles, California, before she relocated to Chicago’s North Shore in 2013. Halle has seen clients in private practice for 10 years, while also co-founding the Existential Psychotherapy Center of Southern California (EPCSC), teaching at UCLA and CSPP, supervising psychologists in training, chairing committees for the California and LA County Psychological Associations, and serving on the Board of Directors for Family Service of Lake County. Halle has also offered several workshops for professionals in Existential Psychotherapy and for the public in mindfulness skills, stress reduction, and assertive communication.

Halle specializes in working with mood disorders (such as depression, or bipolar disorder), anxiety disorders (such as GAD, panic disorder, agoraphobia, or OCD), borderline personality disorder, affect regulation, stress reduction, mindfulness, assertiveness/communication skills, managing chronic physical illness/disease, relationship conflicts, intimacy and trust, grief and loss, identity and self-esteem, loneliness/isolation, existential concerns (like finding and making meaning in life), life transitions, and learning/academic/career challenges.

Halle works with individuals, couples, families and groups using an existential-integrative approach. This is a very dynamic, here-and-now method that focuses on how clients relate to one another and the therapist to repair relationships and increase authenticity, honest communication, and habits that match personal values. This work not only improves relationships but also decreases depression and anxiety, improves self esteem, eases difficult life transitions, and enhances family living. The work is lively and sometimes difficult, but it is very rewarding.

Halle accepts self pay and BCBS PPO clients.

Halle is no longer accepting new clients.
