Cathy Chec, AMFT
Cathy is a full-time Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and the Practice Manager of Mindful Solutions, LLC. She received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University where she obtained comprehensive clinical training at The Family Institute's Bette D. Harris Family and Child Clinic as well as in the Community Program working with children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. She is a Post-Graduate Pre-Clinical Fellow member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Cathy was selected to be a Teaching Assistant for the renowned Marriage 101 class at Northwestern University. The class has been widely discussed and has received national recognition due to its relevance and popularity.
Cathy provides a nonjudgmental and safe therapeutic environment for her clients and she values client-therapist alliance above anything else. Cathy has a direct yet empathetic therapy style, pushing her clients to be the best versions of themselves with utmost compassion and understanding of the constraints that may interfere.
Cathy has a particular clinical interest in working with: Couples, Individual Adults, Infidelity, Transition to Parenthood, Pre-Marital Counseling, Communication and Conflict, Anxiety, Partners and Children of Addicts, Family of Origin, Parent-Child Relationships, Trauma, Grief and Loss, and Work/School/Life Balance.
Cathy received her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northwestern University and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and in Psychology at Hope College.
